Jubilant Germans in Melbourne celebrated their team's World Cup victory with arms aloft as they sang "super Deutschland, ole, ole, ole" at the Hophaus restaurant and bar in Southbank.
After a tense game grandfather Henry Betschel, of Lower Templestowe, had just one word for it.
"Relief," Mr Betschel said

But Argentine fans, congregated at James Squire Brewhouse in Docklands, were not afraid to show their disappointment.
Fans slapped tables, some broke out into tears and for the first time in nine hours, the drumming stopped.
"We did well, we just couldn't get through Germany's defence. We weren't ready from the beginning. We will be back in four years," said Argentine Mariana, 24, fighting back tears.
"It's worse for me because I'm not close to anyone."
Salvador De Grandi, who in 2010 coached the reserves for the recently re-badged Melbourne City Football Club, said Argentina put up a good fight.
"Germany couldn't do what it did to Brazil. We had strong defence, our goalkeeper was good and so was the ref," he said.
He said Germany had an advantage because they had an extra day of rest and played an "easy" match against Brazil.
"Argentina did what they could. I couldn't have asked for more of them," he said.
